Independent Chair of the LH Martin Institute's Advisory Board.
John Hay AC was Vice-Chancellor of The University of Queensland (1996-2008) and Deakin University (1992-1995). At The University of Queensland he developed major new initiatives in teaching and research, including establishing the institutes of molecular bioscience, brain research, bio-engineering and nano-technology, clinical research, sustainable mining and many others.
He currently chairs nine boards including the LH Martin Institute for Higher Education Leadership and Management, the Australian Learning and Teaching Council, the Queensland Art Gallery Board of Trustees, the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and the Council of the Order of Australia. In 2003 he was awarded a Centenary Medal for contributions to Australian higher education. In 2004 Professor Hay was made a Companion in the Order of Australia. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the Australian Institute of Management, the Australian College of Educators and the Queensland Academy of Arts and Sciences.
