Dr Tom Kennie

Honorary Senior Fellow

Based in the UK, Tom works globally and brings with him wide-ranging international perspectives to our work.  He has considerable experience in senior level leadership development having co-created (with Professor Robin Middlehurst) the UK's Top Management Programme for HE as well as the International Association of Universities 'Leading Globally Engaged Universities' programme. Over the past 2 years we have partnered with Tom on his 'Global Challenges: Global Insights' programme which provides an opportunity for senior HE leaders to engage with their counterparts in other countries.

As a founding director of Ranmore, a 'niche' provider of leadership development services to higher education institutions globally (see www.ranmore.co.uk) he has worked with over 130 higher education institutions in the UK and internationally. He has particular interest in HE-Industry Engagement, fostering institutional innovation and what it means to be a globally engaged leader in higher education.

Prior to moving into consultancy nearly 20 years ago he spent 8 years in senior executive positions in learning and development and HR, latterly as Human Resources Director for a large international professional service firm. He also spent 12 years as an academic, 8 years at the University of Surrey as Head of Surveying and 4 years at the University of Technology in Kingston, Jamaica. In his earlier career he worked as a chartered surveyor in the construction and offshore oil and gas sectors. He was also for 8 years a Vice President of the Internationl Federation of Surveyors (FIG), a global NGO which coordinates the work of the surveying profession worldwide.

Tom was an undergraduate and post-graduate student at the University of Glasgow, obtained his PhD from Imperial College, London and his MBA from the University of Sussex.  He is also professionally qualified as a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors *FRICS), a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (Chartered MCIPD) and a full member of the Institute of Management Consulting (MIMC).

With a son 'Kennie' (Stuart) resident in Melbourne he is a regular visitor to the city and plans to spend longer periods of time in Australia.
