Ms Huong Nguyen

PhD student

Huong Nguyen is a PhD student at LH Martin Institute. Her thesis research examines the barriers and enhancers for Vietnamese universities to engage more responsively and entrepreneurially with the wider society for mutual benefits.

As an Australian Leadership Award winner, Huong completed her Master in Educational Management at the University of Melbourne in 2009. Her Masters thesis identified the training needs of Deans at Hanoi University of Industry, Vietnam. Huong was awarded the John and Elizabeth Robertson Prize for most meritorious research essay in the 2009 Master of Education. Upon the completion of her Masters, she won the 2009 EOWP Research Grant by Cambridge - Vietnam Women's Leadership Program to conduct a study on empowering female academic leadership at Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Huong's research interest in higher education leadership and management originates from her experience working as Department Head (2001 - 2005) and then Dean of the Foreign Language Department (2005 - 2007) at Hanoi University of Industry, Vietnam. She aspires to work as a practitioner and researcher in university leadership and management, to realise her dream of providing an excellent educational experience for tertiary level students.
