Dr Peter Bentley

Research Fellow

Peter is a Research Fellow and works on projects investigating the changing nature of the academic profession, institutional diversity within the university and vocational education sector, university finance and research benchmarking, and course redesign. Peter is also involved in the online teaching for the Masters in Tertiary Education Management and Graduate Certificate in Quality Assurance.

Prior to joining the LH Martin Institute in 2011, Peter worked as a research associate at the Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research and Education (NIFU). Peter has also worked for Northern Territory Treasury, the Office of the Commissioner for Public Employment, and the Western Australian Department of State Development. Peter has also acted on the steering board for the European Commission’s Erasmus Mundus Quality Assessment Project and is a past president of the Erasmus Mundus Student and Alumni Association’s Oceania Chapter.

Peter recently completed his PhD at the Centre for Higher Education Policy Studies, University of Twente, publishing a book ‘Academic Work from a Comparative Perspective’ (published by CHEPS/UT) and six international peer-reviewed journal articles on the academic profession. He also holds a European Master in Higher Education, jointly awarded by the Universities of Oslo, Tampere and Aveiro under the European Commission’s Erasmus Mundus program, a Master of Administrative Sciences (University of Tampere) and a Master in European Business Law and Business Administration (Lund University). He completed his undergraduate degrees at the University of Western Australia (B.A. and B.Com.), which included one year at McGill University.
