Professor Sandra Harding

Professor Sandra Harding is Vice-Chancellor and President of James Cook University. She holds a degree in Science (Hons) from the Australian National University, a Masters degree in Public Administration from The University of Queensland and a PhD in Sociology from North Carolina State University, USA.  Professor Harding has extensive academic and academic leadership experience.

Professor Harding was the inaugural President of the Australian Business Deans Council, Vice-President of the Australian Universities Community Engagement Alliance, a member of the Queensland Education and Training Export Board and was Chair of the Australian Statistics Advisory Council. She was a member of the HIH Assessment Review Panel During the period 2001 to 2008, she chaired the Energex Community Consultation Forum from 2003 to 2006 and was a Director on the Brisbane Transport Board and Chairman of Brisbane Marketing Pty. Ltd. from 2003-2006.

Professor Harding is currently Chair of Innovative Research Universities Australia (IRUA) and a member of the Universities Australia Board and the Council of the Australian Institute of Marine Science. She is also a Board Member of Townsville Enterprise Ltd, the Australian Institute for Commercialisation, Advance Cairns, the Great Barrier Reef Foundation International Scientific Advisory Committee, TropLinks Inc, and the Business/Higher Education Round Table. She is also non-executive Director of the Global Foundation for Management Education Ltd (Montreal). Professor Harding belongs to a number of professional and scholarly societies, including the Australian Institute of Management, the Australian Institute of Company Directors, The Australian Sociological Association, the American Sociological Association, and the Academy of Management (USA).
