2010 Conference
Building Australia’s tertiary education sector:
Alternative models and their leadership challenges
11 – 12 November 2010, Melbourne
The Federal Government's drive towards a ‘whole tertiary sector’ has given new prominence to dual-sector and mixed-sector institutions, and polytechnics. What does this mean for tertiary education? What kinds of institutional models and policies do we need? What are the governance, regulatory, quality assurance, funding and policy challenges? How should leadership capacity be built to support this?
This conference will debate:
- Tertiary education regulatory changes
- Policies needed to support multi-sectors
- Emerging institutional models and their benefits, challenges and differences
- Strategies to influence policy
- Approaches to build capacity in multi-sectors
- how can academic and scholarly cultures be built to support higher education, while ensuring the integrity of VET is maintained?
- how should the looming leadership succession crisis be managed?
- how can leadership capacity be built for organisations to excel in times of change and uncertainty.
