2010 CONFERENCE: Building Australia's tertiary education sector: Alternative models and their leadership challenges

The Bradley Review of Higher Education has given impetus to the development of a single tertiary education sector and the blurring of the sectoral divide. This two day conference, to be held on 11-12 November in Melbourne, will explore the progress, contradictions and ambivalences towards a single tertiary sector by focusing on multi-sector tertiary education institutions and the challenges they face.

Day one will focus on multi-sectoral institutions - examining the benefits and limitations of single-sector, co-located and multi-sector institutions; the impact of the new tertiary education policy framework on multi-sectoral institutions; and building higher education capacity in mixed-sector institutions.

Drawing on key findings from A/Prof Hamish Coates' soon to be released study “VET Leadership for the Future: Characteristics, contexts and capabilities”, the second day will focus on key opportunities and challenges for leaders in VET. Find out more
