Innovation and Applied Research Roundtable
This event has passed.
TAFE Directors Australia (TDA) and LH Martin Institute (LHMI) are hosting a joint National Innovation and Applied Research Roundtable at the Canberra Institute of Technology on the 2 March, 2016.
The aim of the Roundtable is to stimulate discussions about TAFE’s contribution to Australia’s National Innovation and Science Agenda (NISA). In particular, we are interested in discussing how TAFE can stimulate innovation in local enterprises through applied research partnerships. TAFEs are genuinely involved in economic development in many local communities across Australia – indeed, they are tasked under our state and territory legislation.
In addition, a special feature of the Roundtable will be outcomes from a recent study delegation to Canada led jointly by TDA and LH Martin Institute. The mission found that over 6,300 Canadian companies, of which 78% are small to medium enterprises and 8% are micro-enterprises, were partnering with colleges and institutes in applied research and innovation activities across the nation.
Guest speakers from Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom have agreed to share how applied research and innovation has been advanced in their public College systems in each of these Commonwealth markets.
The Minister for Vocational Education and Skills has agreed to officially open the Roundtable which will be a full one-day programme. A program will be available shortly.
The Symposium will be followed by dinner at the Lobby Restaurant at 6:30pm.
