Higher education in further education colleges in England: Lessons for Australia

5.00-7.30pm, Thursday, 15 November 2012, Melbourne

Note: the 'Register' button is for the Melbourne seminar only. Please see below regarding the Sydney seminar.

Further education (FE) colleges teach about 10% of all higher education (HE) students in England. The English government’s far-reaching changes to higher education policy have implications for the way in which HE will develop in FE colleges.

In this seminar Professor Gareth Parry will discuss the impact of policy changes on development, partnerships between FE colleges and universities, the characteristics and attributes of HE students in FE colleges and their experiences, aspirations and sense of identity as students. He will consider the challenges FE colleges face in offering higher education and the lessons England’s experience may have for Australia, particularly for the TAFE sector.
